Our Next Generation video team The Circle of Hope is on the ground in the nation’s capital at the 50th anniversary commemoration of the 1963 March on Washington. Circle of Hope, led by Jamal Spratley, is affiliated with Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington, Maryland where Rev. Dr. Grainger Browning, Jr. is the senior pastor. The video production team was founded as a positive, alternative outlet for young people against the backdrop of violence and gang activity in Prince George’s County, Maryland outside of the District of Columbia. The group has been active in its community and produced a documentary on bullying that was funded by the United Way. For the last five years NorthStarNews.com has used Circle of Hope as its video production team at important events such as the Democratic National Convention, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference, the Presidential Inauguration and the official debates of the Commission on Presidential Debates. Our collaboration with the Circle of Hope represents our commitment to help prepare the next generation of journalists, media professionals and community advocates.
